About Kim

Kim Gerlach, she/her, is a scent practitioner and breathworker. Her olfactive work is focused on the cultivation of presence and the creation of new pathways our bodies and minds can follow to heal. She seeks to expand the medium by building and resolving the tension between the familiar and the unknown. She addresses the topics of finding intuition and inner guidance, multiculturalism, and the power of breath.

"As individuals, we each have unique experiences that shape our perception of the world around us. By directing our attention towards the breath and scent, I strive to facilitate a journey of self-discovery that resonates with diverse individuals. The ultimate goal is to attain a state of balance, thereby enhancing our ability to make a positive impact on the world. My intention is to create a safe(r) and nurturing space for things to come as they are, rather than offering concrete solutions. Through this process, we are able to tap into our inner wisdom and unlock our full potential.”

"Who am I?" cannot be linear. It's circular. Who am I now? And who am I now, again, in this next moment. "Who am I?" cannot be a single answer. I am so many. You are so many. You have different identities and perspectives within you.

Some may be contradictory to each other..

My story

"My biggest career acceleration was in 2018 in Scandinavia. After having successfully graduated in "Leadership for Sustainability", I was on stage of Global Fashion Agenda, and create impact for the startup ecosystem in Malmö. I was featured in Vogue at several fashion weeks and seemed happy.

But after a high comes a low. On the outside, all went more than well. But behind the scenes, it seems like I've been a magnet for disruption. Plenty of unhealed childhood trauma came up, a beautiful relationship ended and all there was was emptiness of my Self. To fully feel the feeling of that emptiness, I decided to give it space through yoga and meditation. I went to a Vipassana, meditated once a day and did yoga almost twice a day. My soul knew how to work through this. These daily practices didn't fully heal me. And the tools that revealed themselves to be the most impactful were breathwork, journaling, and olfaction.

In 2020 I arrived in Berlin and started working with perfumes. I re-evaluated what success means. And today I know, that I want to be happy and healthy from the inside.

In 2022, I certified in aromatherapy, did my teacher training in Pranayama and PSYCHEDELIC BREATH®, and want to share these tools with the world."

cover picture with a beautiful BIPOC woman for brand wūpó
  • Kim created the Wūpó Collective together with Mandy Lan. The main intention is to give visibility to BIPOC healers, in Berlin.

One of Wūpó’s goals is to fight systemic racism by focusing on individual experiences and their effects on the body. Only then we can start to move from trauma-centric to healing-centric and hopefully make systemic healing a reality.
